Oklahoma Tornado Relief

Many of us have watched with mixed emotions as images have come out of Oklahoma this week.  We are heartbroken and saddened by the loss of life and utter destruction.  We are inspired and encouraged by resilient human spirit and the outpouring of courage in such a desperate situation.  We are blessed to see God’s people stand up and be counted among the first to pour out comfort and help where there is so much suffering and pain.

As an immediate response to this week’s storm, this Sunday (May 26) and next (June 2) we will be taking up a special contribution during our worship time.  The monies collected will be sent to the Memorial Road Church of Christ in Edmond, OK.  This church is already mobilizing people, goods, and services and working in cooperation with Oklahoma Christian University and other agencies to care for those who have lost so much.  Checks should be made out to Lafayette Church of Christ and can be given during the special contribution time, dropped off at the church office, or given to Bob, Mike or one of the Elders.  More information about Memorial Road’s Tornado Relief efforts can be found here.

As the Lafayette leadership considers other options for helping in the near future, if you would like to coordinate a collection of goods to send or a group to go, please contact the church office.
